Planning on taking some time off this summer? Here are our top tips to make your social media ‘run itself’ while you’re out! (Obviously, social media can’t run itself – we’d be out of a job if it did – but with these tips, your followers need not know your away!)
1. Content
Plan and schedule content to be auto-published during your break. While you can skip on posting stories and reels while you’re away, Facebook Business Manager allows you to schedule stories. However, I find the stickers, etc., lacking, so best to stick to still images or videos.
Top Tip: Reuse previous high-performing content
2. Links
Leave any links that you think followers will be looking for in your bio, clearly labeled. Websites like LinkTr.ee are great for this, or if you have a WordPress website, you can create your own.
Top Tip: On Instagram, you can create a story highlight if you don’t want to use a multilink landing page.
3. Call to Action
Don’t forget to include a call to action in your copy either to the previously mentioned link or a direct link.
Remember, don’t include a CTA that requires you to reply to comments!
4. Away Message
Using Facebook Business Suite, set up an away message or auto-response, explaining you’ll be gone and directing them to a link that might help answer their questions. Feel free to include an email address for more important questions.
5. Enjoy!
Don’t worry about engagement or algorithms while you’re away. It’s important to take time away from work (and social media) so that you come back refreshed with new ideas!
