You’ve decided to start posting on LinkedIn – fantastic! But you’re not getting the reach you’d like. Here’s 6 ways to boost the reach of your LinkedIn posts!
1. Create engaging content: This may sound easy, but it can be difficult sometimes to craft a post that will make readers want to engage with it. When creating your LinkedIn post, make sure to include information that is relatable, resourceful or tactical (or all 3). If readers find your content helpful, they’re more likely to interact!
2. Use a catchy headline: We all have very short attention spans, so it’s important that your first line gives your readers an idea about what your post is about. This will make them more likely to read your whole post.
3. Use trending industry keywords & hashtags: If you’re trying to connect with an audience from a certain industry, it’s important to use relevant hashtags and keywords. [Try this free keyword generator from ahrefs to help compile trending keywords. For hashtags, you can explore the Discover More page (found on the left-hand side of your home feed) or search other industry posts and note which hashtags are being used the most.]
4. Post often: You know what they say, consistency is key! I’m not saying post once a day, every day but the more you post on LinkedIn, the more the algorithm will favour your content.
5. Keep it short: I’ve noticed that long LinkedIn posts seem to be on the way out. The posts that I am noticing are performing the best are the ones that are short. It could be 1 line or 2 small paragraphs, but you want to ensure your audience doesn’t have to commit to reading your post for a prolonged time.
6. Try different types of content: Using different types of content (graphics, videos, infographics, polls, etc.) helps reach more people.
Polls are a great way to engage your audience with your post, but it’s important to ask a question that doesn’t take much time to decide what the reader wants their answer. The question should be short and to the point. [I have read that if LinkedIn notices you’re posting too many poll posts, they may deprioritize your posts. Make sure you utilize polls thoughtfully.]
Bonus point: optimize your LinkedIn profile! You want to make sure your profile is set up with the right keywords for your industry so that the LinkedIn algorithm can show your content to the right audience. There’s SO much more to get into on the topic of LinkedIn profile optimization – but that’s a blog for another day!
